5 great campsites for summer in Berlin

5 great campsites for summer in Berlin

PRAISE BE! Summery weather is finally here, and campsites are officially opening from June 2021 onwards. So high time for a post to share some my favourite camping spots in easy reach from Berlin! This summer is still precarious for planning trips abroad, but a short (or long!) camping trip can be a great way to get some time away from your home office, be in a new environment, and spend some quality time outdoors recharging your batteries.

It’s worth your campsite in advance as there are still space restrictions, and definitely read up on whether you need a negative test before your visit. In the sanitary buildings you’ll definitely wear a FFP2 mask and make sure to allow space. So here are a few ideas to get your research started, or just to pick a date, grab a tent, and book! Enjoy!

Home sweet home :)

  1. Camping Oberuckersee

I previously wrote about this campsite in this here post but am sharing it again because it’s just a total peach. Located an easy walk from the train stop. Head out to Warnitz (1h18 from Berlin HBF) and enjoy crystal clear lake swims from the most beautiful jetty in my recent memory. There’s a baker that comes by in the morning in a van, as well as a butcher (Germany, amiright) so you can cover your breakfast and BBQ needs. Warnitz also has a little cute shop for any other necessities. Click here to check out this sweet spot and book.

  2. Naturcamping Usedom

I’ve never been to the Ostsee and did little to zero research, but this place looks like an idea campsite to explore from. Leafy, natural, chill, and with plenty of options to rent canoes or other fun stuff. Holiday here I come. Here’s their site.

  3. Naturcamping Lübbenau, Spreewald

The Spreewald MIGHT be a tad overrun in post (can we say post??) pandemic summer, but heck if I won’t go anyway. This campsite offers kajak and canoe booking right along with your tent pitch booking, so two mosquitos in one swat. Best also book a table in advance at one of the lovely water-side restaurants in Lübben or Lübbenau. Here’s the link.

  4. Campingplatz Flakensee

This one includes a 3kmn bike ride from Erkner station, which sounds dreamy if you ask me! It’s a quaint campsite near the town of Woltersdorf, so it can make a nice station for a weekend with some outdoor dining as well as lake swimming, bike rides and wanderings. Check it out here.

  5. Campingplatz Liepnitzsee

My favourite camping excursion in 2020 was a trip to the Liepnitzsee. The lake is clean, the woods around it tall and green, and there’s a beach-side food hut and a restaurant in Ützdorf so you can easily rock up with just your overnight gear and enjoy a real German-style holiday. There’s also a killer breakfast at the campsite which asks you to order your breadrolls the evening before for the next day. You can book a spot here.
